What we heard: Election administration oversight
Ahead of this oversight hearing, the Subcommittee asked election officials and voters what they wanted the witnesses to be asked. Twelve people wrote in.
Most of what we heard fell into three areas. First, how voter rolls are kept current, and what safeguards apply before a record is removed. Second, how counties recruit and train poll workers, especially after equipment changes. Third, whether voters reliably learn what happened to a mail ballot after they send it.
Four of these questions were asked at the hearing. Several others were shared with the witnesses in writing. Questions about specific state cases were referred to the relevant Member office.
Questions the committee took forward
When two different data sources flag the same voter record for removal but disagree on the reason, what does federal guidance expect a county to do before acting?

Alvin Petrosky, Election judge, 14 years · Rockford, IL · PI-HA02-0004Is there any federal support for paying poll workers at a rate that competes with an ordinary day of work?
Hector Villalobos, First-time poll worker · Yuma, AZ · PI-HA02-0006Should ballot tracking notifications be sent to every mail voter by default, rather than only to voters who find and use the opt-in page?
Marta Quinones · Springfield, MA · PI-HA02-0008How many days does a voter realistically need between a rejection notice and the cure deadline for the cure process to work?
